RECAP:

- O wanted The Undaunted to ‘stash’ him somewhere – he’s a rival once he’s freed
- Waurren was the go-between
- Judith was taken by Merian for sanctuary somewhere (hidden even from Idris because of doppleganger threat)
- The Undaunted knew Rasputin was after us because chased an ‘Ursel decoy’ through portals (Feywild, Shadowfell, vampire mansion) to find out agents of Rasputin – all a trap
- After defeating the massive, demonic beetles, the strange walls of the hellhole continue to pulsate oddly with their flesh-like consistency
- the search for both Firewing and The Iron General leads to one of the larger ‘mounds’ and into the passages underneath
- Entering a chamber of ‘soft-resin’ that is partially sticky, the heroes see who they think is The Iron General
- unconscious high-elven man in battle scarred armour, trapped against the wall, partially encased in resin along with many other figure
- between you and your rescue is a giant insect demon near pools of amber – a giant ant with clawed hands and silver eyes
- it squeals and you’re aware of movement all around you…
ENGAGE!
- Wiping off the ichor and resin from the battle, the heroes are more aware of the constant buzzing from the nature of this hellhole
- Puki dissolves the ichor holding The Iron General in place
- He’s very weak and it’s clear he’s been poisoned which Puki quickly counteracts, assessing it will likely be some time before he’s fully recovered
- he gasps, “Not that I’m ungrateful, but not the rescue team I was expecting…”
- Puki: … but it’s the one you have
- IG: Not that I’m ungrateful
- Idris: The other team is causing a distraction elsewhere in this place. Have you seen another nkight? A golden knight? A draconian?
- IG: I’m sorry – if that was a friend of yours, she’s gone – they took her deeper into the hellhole. I don’t think she was alive – they had planted eggs in her brain – they were going to do the same to me
- Legion: did they do this to her here? He points at the dias.
- IG: Yes. I’m sorry, she seemed a brave soldier – we would have been proud to have one like her in our ranks
- I: swears and walks away
- Legion, fixated on the altar, puts his hands through the gore, his black pupils staring and tries to scry Firewing. The sense begins, but a buzzing fills his brain – multiple ‘lenses’ and you realize it’s her sight – you start making the sound unconsciously that she’s hearing – she has certainly been assimilated. It seems clear now the bug demons share a hive mind and they assimilate the knowledge of their captives
- Legion says, “They know everything she did…” (relic locations, contacts in Axis, and more…)
- Idris realizes that if this hellhole was created by The Diabolist, then they likely also have this information now.
- Despite the constant buzzing, the heroes can now hear the troops from The Crusader getting closer
- Idris: let’s get out of here before they arrive
- Puki: Asking the Iron General – we were sent by Othorion to get you out without interfering with any of The Crusader‘s troops
- IG: But Othorion *is* The Crusader‘s troops
- Idris: We are doing what was asked of us – please come with us
- Nidalru tosses her hair and tilts her head just so… and The Iron General shrugs his shoulders and says, “Alright… but there’s no reason not to trust you.. Othorion *is* good people…”
- The heroes manage to escape without being discovered by The Crusader‘s advancing troops, or more demons of the hellhole.
- Ther heroes bring The Iron General to the cave where Othorion said to meet
- IG: Reluctantly offers his hand to Idris. (this is a big deal)
- Idris looks hesitantly, and sees in his eyes a sincerity, so Idris takes his hand.
- IG: I saw what they did to your soldier, she saved me from the same fate – tell me where you guys live, I’ll make sure you get something…
Over the next day or two, you each get a gold medallion of service from The Crusader – a medal.
He also gives an Epic Magic Weapon to one of the heroes – only Legion or Puki can benefit, so Joe and Roberto did a best of 3:
