Somewhat of an enigma within the group, Nyeru‘s involvement with the Lords of Doom never became apparent. His despicable methods and lack of moral character dug deep into the heroes quicly and he remains to this day a threat and a worry to those that strive for goodness…

Recruited into the Necromancers of Skahlehn almost immediately after his return to the surface, Nyeru was pleased to find himself in the company of like-minded individuals. His masterful use of the Ur-Flannae tome he had discovered granted him much prestige amongst the cabal, and a tracing of his lineage proved that an ancestor of his, Evalanger Darkspring, was a mighty necromancer in Vecna‘s maligned group.

Chosen to head the detachment of necromancers who would find the Trumpet of Doom, Darkspring encountered the Scourge of the Underdark several times. Calling upon a fiendish favor, he recruited an ultroloth as a bodyguard to protect him against this group whose reputation was quickly growing. After several battles with them, he managed to retrieve the Trumpet.

However, wielding the artifact brought about changes within Darkspring. He no longer cared about his affiliations so much as about the personal power he was obtaining. Using the dread Trumpet, he summoned an army of skeletons and swordwraiths in a mad bid to take over Geoff permanently. Only the timely arrival of the Scourge with the long-lost White Banner of Mielec defeated the mad necromancer, who retreated to the Cursed Caverns of Sorrow with his remaining Lords of Doom. The Scourge hunted them down, and Darkspring was destroyed in a pitched battle with the hero, Tempus. However, few think that a master of the dark arts such as Darkspring could truly be destroyed as thus.

Darkspring is selfish, cold, and cruel. When the Scourge first began their mission, he sent word that they must stop or reap the consequences. Thinking that he was referring only to them, they ignored his warning. After the fall of the dwarven citadel Utholok, Darkspring retaliated by slaughtering an entire slave farm and raising them as zombies. When he went to retrieve the Trumpet of Doom, he used a corpse host and had a little girl manacled to his wrist as a shield from attacks. Darkspring will go to any length to achieve his own ends, and no means are too despicable or low for him to use.
